So, I’ve been on the same photography assignment since classes started in January. It’s February now..
The project is to shoot a photograph of a complete stranger. We really only need one print. So, once I actually get a roll shot, a contact sheet made, and a frame chosen, all the hard work can go into printing just ONE photo.
Too bad it’s taking me a crapload of time just to get to that point..
I don’t know what it is, but I can’t seem to get a good composition once I look through the viewfinder, as if I don’t know how to take a good photograph.
I’m pretty much over thinking and panicking. I keep thinking too much about how I can try to turn a portrait into something unique and not typical. Thinking about how to do somakes me panic. I can’t figure out how to shoot my subject matter in a way that’s compopsitionally interesting. Every time I look into the viewfinder, I get discouraged. And the fact that I’m dealing with people I don’t know sort of adds to the pressure. I’m always afraid that they’ll get impatient, which will result in me getting frustrated.
Also, this fckd up weather isn’t helping one bit, because it’s keeping people indoors, making them cranky, and keeping away the necessary sunlight I need to make good contrasted photos.
I know I’ve taken good portraiture before, and I know that I should just stop thinking so much and take the goddamn picture.
But honestly, yo.. This shit is supremely fckn discouraging on the reallllz.
Man, whatever.

1. It clearly looks like I should probably move to the east coast.
2. Seeing maps like this depress me, because while I really like Colorado, it’s smack dab in the middle of nothing. Like at least if you live in a shitty part of New Jersey, you can drive a couple of hours to somewhere awesome for a mini vacation. Driving a few hours gets me Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, or New Mexico, and not even one of the good parts of those states. OOOH FUN!
Yo, hasgerms & I were talking the other day about how it’s just a lot better to live in a coastal state. Colorado looks beautiful, but I’d feel trapped if I lived there. Also, it’s too wtf-cold up there, and my southern/islander ass wouldn’t be able to stand it. This made me fckn LOL so much though… Look at Houston & Austin’s dots. Not that they’re too big and cluster with other dots, but just thinking about that many single males in the city makes me laugh for idk wtf for.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
